SOBR ai Privacy Policy

SOBR ai ("the App") is a mobile application designed to assist law enforcement officers during Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST) administration. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what information the App collects, how it is used, and your rights.

1. Information We Collect

Data Stored Locally on Your Device

The App stores all SFST session data, officer profile information, and app preferences locally on your device using on-device storage. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to generate an AI-assisted report.

• SFST session observations and clue checklists
• Officer name, title, department, and certification details
• Suspect information entered during an incident
• App preferences (night mode, training mode, selected state)

Data Sent to Our Server

• AI Report Generation: When you choose to generate an AI-assisted report, your session data for that incident is sent to our server, which forwards it to OpenAI's API to produce a narrative report. This data is used solely for report generation and is not stored on our servers after the report is returned to your device.
• AI Partner Chat: When using the AI Partner feature, your questions are sent to our server and forwarded to OpenAI's API for processing. Chat messages are not permanently stored on our servers.
• Anonymous Usage Analytics: We collect anonymous, non-identifying usage events (such as "incident created" or "report generated") along with a randomly generated device identifier. This helps us understand how the App is used and improve it. No personal information, officer names, or suspect data is included in these analytics.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not require account creation or login credentials
• We do not collect your real name, email address, or phone number
• We do not track your location (GPS is captured locally on your device only)
• We do not sell or share any data with third parties for advertising
• We do not store suspect information on our servers

3. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• OpenAI: Used for AI report generation and AI Partner chat. Data sent to OpenAI is governed by OpenAI's Privacy Policy. OpenAI's API usage policy states that API inputs are not used to train their models.
• Apple StoreKit / Google Play Billing: Used for managing in-app subscriptions and purchases. Purchase data is handled by Apple and Google respectively. See Apple's Privacy Policy and Google's Privacy Policy.
• Open-Meteo: Used to fetch weather conditions at the scene. Only GPS coordinates are sent; no personal data is transmitted.

4. Data Security

All data transmitted between the App and our servers uses HTTPS encryption. Session data stored on your device is protected by your device's built-in security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID). We do not have access to data stored on your device.

5. Data Retention

• On-device data: Retained until you delete individual sessions or uninstall the App.
• AI-generated reports: Session data sent for AI processing is not retained on our servers after the response is delivered.
• Anonymous analytics: Usage events may be retained for up to 12 months for product improvement purposes.

6. Your Rights

• You can delete any session or all data at any time from within the App
• Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data
• You can use the App's core SFST features without generating AI reports, minimizing data transmission

7. Children's Privacy

The App is designed for use by law enforcement professionals and is not intended for children under 17. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Law Enforcement Use

The App is a professional tool designed to assist with SFST documentation. Officers are responsible for ensuring that their use of the App complies with their department's policies regarding digital tools, data handling, and evidence documentation.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
